This is a 9 team, three division tournament. Each team will play 4 round robin games. The top team in each division will advance and be ranked 1-3 based on their points and using the tie breaker system (if needed). A fourth team, which will be the highest ranked remaining team, will enter the semi-finals as the “wildcard team” and will face the top ranked division winner in the semi-finals. The second and third ranked division winners will face off in the other semi-final.
-
Points will be awarded as follows:
3 points for a win in regulation time
2 points for a win in overtime or shootout
1 point for a loss in overtime or shootout
-
At the end of round-robin play, if two or more teams are tied in points for division lead, the tie will be broken using the following system in order given:
-
If 2 teams are tied, the head to head winner will be awarded the highest ranking.
-
If 3 teams are tied for first place, the 3 teams will be ranked according to goal ratio (goals for divided by goals against). The best goal ratio will be awarded the highest seed.
-
If after rule 11(b), 2 teams are tied with an equal ratio, rule 11 (a) will prevail.
-
If after 11(c) teams are still tied the team with the least goals against from all round-robin games will prevail.
-
If after 11(d) teams are still tied the team with the fewest penalty minutes will prevail.
-
If after 11(e) teams are still tied, flip a coin.
After the division leaders are determined the “wildcard” team will be calculated. If two or
more teams are tied, they will use the above system to break the tie.
12. In the event one team is leading by five goals or more starting in the third period, time
will revert to straight running time and only reverts back to stop time if the margin is less
than 5. If the margin returns to 5 at any point in the third period the clock will be straight
time again and continue with this pattern should the score be less than 5. The maximum
goals in any round robin games will be either +5 or -5 goal differential for calculating goal
ratio.
13. One timeout will be allowed per game.
14. Tournament decisions are final.
